Did You Know?: Music legend, Nat King Cole was the first African-American to have his own nationally syndicated television show on NBC in the mid 1950s, a time when Black people were only given small roles on the screen. The Nat King Cole Show was the first African-American hosted national television show. Cole would sing, perform, and speak with guest performers on this show for five seasons. Cole commanded the attention of every audience member and performer in the room with his strength and charm.
