Did You Know?: Leroy Paige was born in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up to become a legendary right-handed pitcher in the Negro Leagues. He was finally allowed to play in the Major Leagues in 1948. According to Major League Baseball (@MLB) , Leroy "Satchel" Paige was "the first primary Negro Leagues star to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971." Paige's induction into the Hall of Fame represents the many other great Negro League players who are not in the Hall of Fame simply because they were not given the opportunity.
